“The Purpose of this church is to preach the gospel, thereby nourishing the saved and winning the lost.” We strive to help each other learn to live out their faith in Christ in day to day life, and to invite other people to come to that faith in Christ. We proclaim the Word of God so that those who have already come to faith in Him as Lord and Savior may grow in their knowledge and ability to live out that confession. And we proclaim Christ as Lord and Savior to the world around us so that others may come to believe in Christ as well.
Sutter Salem Bible Church was founded in 1880 as the German Salem Presbyterian Church. That same year, the church members built a small frame building. They worshipped in the building until 1889 until another structure was built. The Lord used this small church for many years in the lives of people in the area. The present building was built in 1952. In time, the church moved away from a denominational title, and became an independent Bible church.
We are a member church of the Independent Fundamental Churches of America. The IFCA is not a denomination, but rather an association of Bible-believing churches seeking to preach the Bible expositionally, and apply it to the everyday lives of the listeners. The desire of the IFCA is to introduce people to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, and go on to help those individuals deepen their faith in Christ.
